1st Semester Exam Schedule

Weekend before last we had an amazing work day! The families from the church and school really turned out to participate in getting things in shape for the new school year! This Saturday there will be another work day at the school from 8 AM to 12 PM. We hope to meet with great success again! Thank you for all who helped and to those who donated supplies. Granddad Chapel even came back later to bush hog the entire field since he got rained out that Saturday!

If you can come to help and/or offer supplies, it would be greatly appreciated. All projects must be cleared through Lynn or Charles Mullins please, as there are priorities to accomplish, as well as areas that need special attention. SO, please check in at the gym before beginning any work – there will be a project list in the foyer. We are also making it top priority to keep the newly waxed floors in beautiful shape for the first day of school, so everyone watch your shoes and workprojects inside both buildings!!

The jobs so far include –

Painting: The trim in the kitchen and cafeteria areas, the stage sides and floor, and the lunch food warmer need painting. The walls in the gym hallway need sanding and touch up painting done. Painting the patio in front of the gym will be done as the very last thing.

Cleaning: The kitchen ice maker must be cleaned. All ceiling vents need a good cleaning too in both buildings! It would be great to mop and clean every corner of the gym and bleachers. Replace some ceiling tiles in the cafeteria.

Outside: Pressure wash sidewalks (only!). Weed eat all around. Weed flower beds all around.

Supplies will be needed:
such as window cleaner and rags, paint brushes and rollers, bathroom cleaning supplies and tools including some dusters or brooms for cobwebs, 409 and rags for the freezer, pressure washers, weed eaters, vacuum cleaners, tall ladders, and all else you think would be helpful…

Parents with kids – things went well with the kids helping out so much on the last work day! They really worked hard and we were impressed! This time around, we would ask that you weigh the necessary jobs and employ your kids according to what they can do. If they come this time, it would be preferable to have them busy until you are ready to leave. Thanks for being responsible for your own kids.

In the past, many students have attended Parent Orientation.  To avoid overcrowding in the gym, hallways, and classrooms, we respectfully request that only new students attend this year’s orientation.  Returning students will get to see their classrooms and meet their teachers on the first day of school.

Parents, when you arrive for Parent Orientation please go through the gym and visit the different tables necessary to complete your school business.  The following tables will be set up in the gym for your convenience:

Lunch Order Forms    (You must complete order forms and pay if you choose to purchase lunches for the first week of school.

Tuition

Sports Boosters (You will have the opportunity to sign up for membership. The cost of membership is $25.00 per family.   You must be a member of Sports Boosters in order to purchase Ram Passes.  A Ram Pass entitles you to all football, soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball home games except tournament games and special events.  Cost for Ram Passes:  $55.00 for Adults and $40.00 for students in 1st – 12th grades (children in kindergarten and younger are admitted free to all home games).

PTO (You will have the opportunity to sign up for membership.  The cost of membership is $15.00 for parents and $7.00 for teachers.  Membership will include a Student Directory.)

Early Care and/or Extended Care

K3 – 6th Grade Dismissal Signs (Please be sure to pick up your sign.  You must have the sign for our 11:35 dismissal Friday, August 10.)

After parents have completed their business in the gym, you may visit the classrooms and speak with your child’s teacher(s).  Secondary parents will get your child’s schedule from the homeroom teacher.  Parents of 1st-6th grade students need to drop off school supplies in the classroom.

We hope this new schedule will be convenient for all and allow everyone to be home early to be ready for school on Friday, August 10th.  Remember, this first day of school is an early dismissal day, with elementary students dismissing at 11:35 and secondary students dismissing at 11:45.  Extended Care will begin Friday, August 10th.  All students who are not enrolled in Extended Care should be picked up by 12:00 noon.

Dress Code Note: A parent has asked a question about dress code that we want to clarify. A hooded shirt is acceptable as a substitute for a collared shirt.  Please, please feel free to call us and asked questions.  It is much better to ask questions up front than be frustrated later.

Here is how you can get your Ram Pass:

· Buy your pass anytime from now to August 17th in the school office.

· You must be a member of ICS Sports Boosters in order to purchase a Ram Pass.  Become a member by filling out the attached form.

Please mark your calendars now and make plans to attend. The more people that come, the more we can accomplish. It is also a great time of fellowship! There is something that everyone can do!!
